Jazkarta, Inc. (www.jazkarta.com)
I founded Jazkarta in 2004 as a web consulting business. The virtual company now employs 20 freelancers in USA, Canada, Europe and Brazil. We specialize in developing web solutions based on Plone, an open source content management system.

Our customers include non-profits, small businesses and educational institutions. Recent Jazkarta customers:

Plone (www.plone.org)
Plone is a powerful open source content management system that I’ve been working with since 2002. I’ve found that it’s a very capable tool for building websites, intranets, and other web applications. I’ve been active in the community, co-organizing sprints, speaking at conferences and serving on the Plone Foundation board for two terms.

BostonJazz.net (www.bostonjazz.net) SITE CURRENTLY DOWN FOR REPAIR

I’ve been building an online community website for jazz musicians and fans in the Boston area. The goal of the site is to increase awareness of the musicians performing in the Boston jazz scene and encourage more people to go out and hear live music. The site features a gigs calendar, artist portfolios, podcasting, book recommendations, discussion forums and other more.

BostonJazz activities

  • Boston Jazz Meetup (organizer of monthly jazz events in the Boston area)
  • JazzBoston (member)
  • CreativeTechnologists (working title for a nascent group of developers who want to build tools to help promote music, arts and culture in Boston)
